NOVEMBER 2016

It's been a long few months, but we finally can reveal the second stage of the new Stokehouse.

Pontoon (a casual grill restaurant) opened on the 12th of November on the ground level of the St Kilda institution. The whole ground level features 40 speakers, most of which use D&B audio technical equipment, with 4 and 5s speakers hidden throughout the roof in a custom-built, acoustic ceiling.

When in DJ mode, the main PA is activated with the rest of the room falling into delays. The main PA consists of 3 x 18s subs, and Yi7p mid highs. The entry encompasses 5x SoundTube Coaxial Rock speakers with more IP67 boxes on the deck facing the St Kilda beach.

Lighting was another massive element on this installation. With a budget of 500m of waterproof RGB led lighting fitted throughout the entire building, 300m of which has found its way on the ground floor alone. These are driven by custom rack mounted LED drivers with available output of 600w per zone. There's plenty of more info and pictures to come as we better get back to work on the first floor - this will need to be seen to be believed!

OCTOBER 2016

Recently we were asked to put together a package for a new venue in Prahran. The owners already have a number of spaces around Melbourne, so they had an idea in mind of what they wanted to achieve with the Audio for this space.

Off the bat we were required to look into the noise restrictions on the property and engaged Dcap to draft a full report on the property. We also scoped what works were necessary to achieve the desired volume and full spectrum sound the owners were chasing.

Once sorted, our next call was to the team at National Audio to look at a D&B option. Budget was limited, so with their help we combined a D&B/DB tech solution. Using some of the venue's existing infrastructure including an in-house Ashley control system, we were able to hit all targets and assemble a stand out package for a venue of its size.

The PA covers two floors, with the ground floor delayed when the DJ position is priority. It is also designed steer away from weaknesses in the venue achieved by the NAS team working closely with the Dcap acousticians. All in all, it shows what you can do when you bring the right teams together..

Opening night saw a full house, and as per all of our projects, we provided an operator for the entirety of the event to ensure everything was glitch free (it also allows some final tweaks to the system when the space fills capacity).

This is an on going project for the owners' so drop back along the way to see it develop!

JULY 2016

Now this was a gig...

Start the day with their production team's 31 items all opened by TSA, some of which has been unbolted - waves server for starters - and you know you're in for it. Add to that two big time engineers on the tour and it's time to sweat.

Eight hours of pulling out every trick in the book, with the support from the A-team on site (cheers Chris Braun!) - low and behold, another brilliant gig at the Prince.

JUNE 2016

We had the pleasure of jumping on board to production manage the 'secret show' held pop-star legend Dannii Minogue at St Kilda's infamous gay bar, the Greyhound (GH Hotel).

A few additions were added to the venue system on the night, including the extension of their Digico system with a second D-rack, as well as the installation of Stormy and Stormy CC units to aid the lighting team program for the space.

The Daily Mail wrote about it, and you read about it - here.

JUNE 2016

American heavy metal heads Fear Factory played two sell out shows at the Bandroom, wrapping up a big weekend for the team.

All the upgrades and maintenance we have poured into the iconic St Kilda venue in the past few months have paid off, with the new lighting rig certainly doing its bit.
